Accessibility Policy and Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

Five year accessibility plan 2017-2022

Double Diamond Acres Ltd./ Twin Peaks Hydroponics Inc./ 1808278 Ontario Inc./ Double Diamond Sales /2492309 Ontario Ltd will follow the following proposed plan which outlines the policies and actions that will be put in place to improve opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This plan will be revisited annually to ensure that we are moving toward meeting our goals and on track to attaining these goals within the next five years.

 Accessible Emergency Information and Procedures

We are committed to providing individualized emergency response information in an accessible format upon request.  We will improve on this procedure by producing emergency information in various formats so that it can be readily available upon request for employees, customers and the general public.  It is important that emergency information be available in a quick and convenient manner as it has the capacity to reduce incidents and save lives.

 Training

We are committed to providing annual training on accessibility laws and the Human Rights Code.  In order to provide a comprehensive approach we will work on gathering feedback from employees and from people involved in the development of policies, plans, practices and procedures for the company, on how we might improve services and remove barriers for people with disabilities.  We are also reaching out to the community though a feedback option on our website so that we can gain input from the public and incorporate that information into our practices and training.  Within five years we would like to also consult community groups which might be able to provide us additional insight on how to better accommodate the needs of the disabled.

  1. Information and Communication

We are committed to providing alternate formats of any information requested by individuals with a disability to ensure that all information is communicated effectively in a suitable and effective manner.  We have developed feedback forms for visitors and employees to get an idea of their experiences and determine whether our provisions are adequate in meeting needs.  Over the next five years we plan to build an inventory of information in various formats so that information is more readily available when it is requested.

 Website Requirements

The Double Diamond Farms web page will be in a constant state of improvement as we are committed to adjusting the content to comply with accessibility laws and requirements.  Over the next five years we would like to add features to our web page which will allow for increased accessibility and ease of understanding.  We will offer a platform which will allow for the public to provide feedback to us about what additional information they might like to see and which formats might improve our methods of communication.

 We will work on expanding the formats currently available by including features such as a zoom control to enlarge text as well as provide information in audio and visual formats with the option to incorporate captions and volume control.

In order to expand our recruitment opportunities to people visiting our web page we will encourage applicants to apply in a way which is suitable for them.  We will provide applicants with our mailing address and business address so that they may apply personally at our locations or by mail.

 Employment

Policies have been developed which ensure fair and accessible employment practices.   We notify employees, potential hires and the public that accommodations can be made during recruitment and hiring.  Upon hiring, employees are made aware that support is available for people with disabilities. Individual support plans are developed on a personal basis to compliment different needs.  Our performance management and career development processes take into account the accessibility needs of all employees.  Our goal is to continue training and collecting feedback which will clarify where we are meeting our goals and where we can make improvements.

Communication Support

We are committed to providing all employment-related information and job specific information in a format which is fitting to individuals needs.  Our goal over the next five years will be to build an inventory of information in various formats so that the information will be readily available when it is requested.  We will also review all information annually to make sure that it is up to date and valid.

Accommodation Plans

Policy has been developed which outlines our commitment to individual accommodation plans as well as return to work processes and policy.  The return to work processes involve individual assessment of needs and a personalized plan that is to be monitored and reviewed to ensure it remains effective.  Our long term goals are to provide optimal service and support.  We are committed to researching available accommodations which have the potential to improve accessibility in our positions.  By researching and adopting various work practices it will allow for increased accessibility in our work place.

Public Spaces Requirements

In order to comply with AODA requirements all new or redeveloped public spaces must be accessible.  In the event that we redevelop or extend our business we are committed to adhering to the design of public spaces standard for future projects.

All current public spaces have accessible elements in place and are maintained as required.  Elements such as walkways and paths are free and clear and are maintained year round.  In the event that maintenance prevents access to these areas alternate accommodations will be made for that time.
