Homemade Spaghetti Sauce


  • 4lbs Double Diamond Tomatoes on the Vine, peeled and chopped (to peel, cut a small “x” on the top and drop in to boiling water for 30 seconds and drop in to an ice bath. Skin will easily peel off)
  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 cups water
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese


  1. Heat half the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat
  2. Add the ground beef and begin browning. When it is almost browned, drain and put in a bowl.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic.
  4. Once the onions are translucent add the beef and finish browning.
  5. Add tomatoes, herbs, water and salt. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens, approx. 1 hour.
  7. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  8. Serve & Enjoy!
